Dave started his insurance career in 1985 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Marketing Management. GO HOKIES!
He was hired by Henderson & Phillips in Norfolk, Virginia as a Commercial Lines Producer where he sold and serviced small and middle market accounts. In 1990, Dave went to work for Insco Group in Virginia Beach where he learned the operations of a smaller privately held agency while still selling and servicing commercial accounts. Riedman Corporation, a national brokerage based in Rochester, NY recruited Dave to manage their Virginia Beach office and continue his sales success. In 2001 Riedman was purchased by Brown & Brown Insurance, based in Daytona Beach, FL. Dave was asked to lead the Virginia Beach office for Brown & Brown. In 2010, Dave decided it was time to open his own agency…he wasn’t getting any younger! He is President and owner of Southeastern Insurance Service in Chesapeake, VA.
Dave is a Certified Insurance Counselor. He has served on the Board of Professional Insurance Agents of Virginia & DC (PIA) and was named the PIA of VA/DC Agent of the Year in 2022. He is the current Chairperson of the PIA VA/DC Legislative Committee and won Outstanding Committee Chair of the Year in 2020 and 2026.
Dave lives in Chesapeake with his wife Sandy. His son Justin joined the agency as a producer in 2014, and his daughter Ashlin owns her own salon in the same town. Dave loves to play golf and has spent 10 years coaching as an assistant at Grassfield High School. He is a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church….he has found that a strong faith is a great asset when operating an insurance agency.
